Hi, I've applied for an Erasmus semester in Valencia next fall term but I've heard that most people speak Catalan in Valencia too? I want to come to Valencia mainly to learn Spanish (castellano) so I'm a bit confused whether it would really be a bit good idea now.. I'm afraid I won't be able to understand Valencian people when they talk to each other - for example, do you talk to your friends in Catalan or Castellano? =)

I would be very thankful for information =)

Hi Verena,

I am Spanish and live in Valencia since I was born; we speak both Valencian and Spanish. I can tell you that a very few times I have used Valencian when talking to people here, so dont be afraid for that. Everybody speak Spanish.
