Hey, Im heading to ESC Rennes for the year September 2012 to May 2013 on Erasmus. I'd love to know if anyone else is heading there or wouldn't mind finding people to share a flat? :)
Soooo excited to be spending a year in France!!! :D My main aim is to improve my french!

I'm Pelin from Turkey. I'll be spending next academic year in Rennes. I've just created a group on Facebook for those of you headed for Rennes in 2012 / 2013 can introduce yourselves and I thought it would be great to get to know each other before the academic year starts. I can't share the link but just search for "ERASMUS RENNES 2012-2013" and you'll join the group. It's an open group by the way. The other group I found on Facebook is a closed group and actually I couldn't wait for the approval. :)
Since there are many people from different countries, all discussions will be in English for sure.

I've already seached to find a group on Facebook but, I couldn't find one. That's why I created the new group. If there's already a group then unfortunately it's not available for all of us.

Hi Rebecca, I'll be in Rennes just for one semester, but unfortunately I havent arranged accommodation yet. I've been trying to talk to someone who is already living in Rennes to ask for help or at least a brief info about Rennes, rent, public transportation etc. :(

I don't know the exact name of your schools but IEP de Rennes proposes a university residence to all of the Erasmus students. If you earn the right to accommodate in a university residence; it will be "the Patton", a CROUS establishment under the tutelage of the IEP via an agreeement. But it's NOT guaranteed that every student will stay there. This opportunity notwithstanding, some will be obliged to find a private residence with the aid of the ZEPHRY, a student association. You could have left an application to the CROUS in order to demand a residence, but the deadline is already over.
Given that the university residence of Patton is virtually outside the city centre, it can be much more appealing to move in a small apartment. Rents are approximately 300-350 euros (the electricity included) and it's absoluately much more comfortable cuz you can easily walk it off to the scholl from your apartment.
Don't worry about the expensiveness, Rennes is one of the cheapest cities in France, especially when compared with Nice, Lyon, or Paris... It's a small, cozy and greeny place : )
I've got many friends from my original school who will go to the Université de Rennes 1. I can consult them if any1 here poses questions. Do not hesitate to contact me : )

Bonjour à tous,
I am also coming to Rennes next year . I am student of the Political Sciences and Administration. And I'm going to follow my study in IEP de Rennes. So, is there anyone who will be in the same university with me? or all we are a stranger to Rennes and before going there I think meet and get in contact with someone, even if we go to the different universities, would be good idea for all of us. :)
On the other hand, create a group on FB under the name of Erasmus Rennes 2012-2013 sounds good but I know it's very difficult to find these kind of groups on FB therefore If there is anyone who can send us an invitation from the group thus we can solve this problem :)

Hello!
I will be studying at the IEP in Rennes from September. I'm really excited! I haven't applied for university accommodation so I am currently looking for a flat in the city. Also, does anyone know when term actually starts? I can't find the dates anywhere!
I looked for the group on facebook but the only one I could find was in Spanish - I couldn't understand much of it!

I think, I can help you for the dates. Weeks of integration start on Monday, September 3rd until Friday, September 14th. 1st half-year: on Monday, September 17th until Friday, January 18th. I hope it helps you for now.
