Dear Students,
My name is Luca Arfini, I am studying a Master in European Studies at Aarhus University, in Denmark. I am currently writing my thesis on the topic of “fake news” and EU college students in view of the 2019 European elections and I need your help to carry out my study. Therefore, I would like to invite you to take part in a focus group (small discussion group) on the 14th or on the 15th of February 2019 around 17.30 at Aarhus University, Nobel Parken to discuss the topic. The focus group should last no longer than one hour and a key part of my study.
The focus group will provide an opportunity for you to find out about online disinformation in view of the 2019 European elections and how youth deal with this issue. In particular, I would like to discover:
· If EU college students are aware of the problem of online disinformation and what channels they use to read the news
· How they tackle the issue of “fake news” spread on the web
· Their relationship and interest in the EU election campaign
More background information will be sent to those confirming attendance before the focus group.
Your views will be used to help me in collecting data for my master thesis with the following research question:” How do EU college students tackle the issue of online disinformation (“fake news”) during the 2019 European elections campaign?”. The thesis is the final part of my master in European Studies at Aarhus University. I am currently based in Brussels working as an intern at the European Federation of Journalists, where I am also dealing with the issue of media literacy and online disinformation. As I explained, your participation is very important for the development of my research, so I hope you can help me.
Please note that your name and any identifying information you share with us will remain confidential. Your responses will be summarized along with other responses and analysed collectively. No names or identifying information will be used when compiling this information.
