I will be coming to Murcia in February. Is it true that in Spain it's the law to carry your passport around with you or will any ID do?? I want to make sure. You never know when the police could stop you.

mmmm..... yes, you have to bring your ID with you all the time. If you dont have it with you the police could give you a receipt ("una multa") and you must to show your ID next day at the police station.

In spain we have DNI (Documento nacional de identidad) and Passport. For the police both are valid to identificate you.
In spain passport only uses for trips outside Europe.
(I dont know how to say in english)
Puedes hacer una fotocopia de tu pasaporte y que la policia inglesa COMPULSE esta fotocopia para que sea válida.
Así no hará falta que lleves el pasaporte original siempre contigo.

You could say, 'You can make a photocopy of your passport and the English police certify this photocopy (to see if) it is valid. (Así no hará falta que) you always take the original passport with you.
*Some bits I wasn't sure how to translate. I will check them later. ::wink::
