Looking for all-erasmus residence

Hi everyone!

I'm heading to Marseille in September for 10 months.  I'll be studying at the Faculté des sciences du sport at Luminy.

I'm currently trying to choose accommodation.  I would like to live in a university residence/cité that is for only Erasmus/International students.  Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks!  Can't wait for erasmus to start!

Hi Ellen, how are you getting on? Finding anything? I'm going to be studying at EuroMed but wouldn't be opposed to the idea of sharing with other Erasmus students. Sounds like a good idea. I am trying to find information on students residences but am concerned about being put with students only from Marseille or only 1st year students. It would be ideal to be with international students preferably also in 3rd year although I guess year of study isn't such a big issue.

Hi Erin,

I've heard that a lot of EuroMed students stay at Alotra residence, and that most of them are international.  That sounds ideal, except that Alotra is 80% reserved for EuroMed students...and I'm not one.  I have the exact same concerns as you: not being with other international students or being with only first year students! I'll be in 3rd year as well.  I guess I could try for that leftover 20%!  A lot of the other university residences look nice but again, being with other erasmus students would be ideal.

Let me know if you hear anything new, and I'll do the same!

Hi,

Have you both sorted accomodation yet? There are 3 of us girls coming from Ireland to study at Euromed from Sept. '12 to May '13 and we have just learned there was some mix up with our email and we were not given rooms in Alotra.

Where else can an exchange student stay do you know,

I am a student from Poland and I am also goint to be studying at Euromed (just for fall semester). As for now I don't have any accomodation and I am starting to panic a little :P Have you found anything?

Hey guys, I have been in contact with Elodie from Euromed accomodation and she says Alotra is full and Estudines has only a 1 bed studio left. It's quite pricey and I really don't want to be living by myself. 

Is anyone up for finding a private apartment to rent as a group from beginning of September to Christmas? I'm starting to panic too, Kalina!

OMG, I'm having a nightmare! I must have sent about 30 emails this week and spoken to several people who speak not a word of English (my French is decent but limited). I keep getting passed along to someone else like no one wants to deal with this British student looking for somewhere to live! 

Awful! Does anyone know of someone I can contact at Euromed or any of the accommodation places at all? Like any email addresses of people that were actually helpful? x

Hello girls, I'm having the same problem as you: don't want to live alone, but cannot speak french, so it's really hard to find accomodation (esp only for 4 months). Maybe we can unite our forces and keep looking :) 

Hopefully someone past erasmus students that were here can provide useful information, because Elodie from Euromed refused to help.

I'm Irish and going to be an English Assistant in a Lycée in the 8th arr for the school year. I did erasmus in Grenoble 2 years ago, and as I don't have that many hours teaching I reckon I can live a fairly erasmus lifestyle. Currently trying to find accomodation, and I'd be really happy to share!
