Hi, so I have studied French and Spanish at Queen's University Belfast for two years now. It's a great university. Next year, I will be living in Seville as an Erasmus student and I think that I'm going to really miss Belfast!
Accommodation- The main accomodation for Erasmus Students is Elms Village which is a really good option for mixing with other students. It's the main accomodation for students from here as well. If you live here, you will be at the centre of student life in Belfast. Belfast is one of the cheapest cities in the UK for Private renting. However, I would be wary of booking anything online without seeing the accommodation in person. In my opinion, Elms Village is probably your best option and the rooms look exactly the same on the internet as they do in person.
Food- My favourite cafe in Belfast is quite close to the University. It's situated on the Lisburn road. It's called Jenz Cafe. They do the best burgers and sweet potatoe fries that you will ever have. To top it off, if you like milkshakes, then this is the place to go. There is a cafe called Maggie Mays where most students go for milkshakes beside Queen's but Jenz milkshakes are by far better! They are probably one of the things that I will miss most next year haha If you are looking for something closer to the University French Village is quite good as well.
If you like Chinese then there is quite a good chinese called Abacus near to Elms Village and it delivers!
For restaurants, my favourite would probably be Villa Italia which is near to the University. God prices for good food!
If you like to go out at night then I would recommend Limelight which is a more casual atmosphere. If you like to get dressed up then I would recommend Ollies. Most importantly I would stay away from a place called Thompsons as it has quite a bad reputation.
Queen's has lot's of clubs and societies for all interests but they will let you know more about that closer to the time when they have the Fresher's fair.
I hope this has helped!
