Mountain Trek “PolUŚ” - “Music Beyond the Borders”
Mountain Trek “PolUŚ” is a weekend mountain trip organized by Student Mountain Guides Associations from Gliwice and Katowice.
There are 3 groups you can join, each of them going a different route. However, there is one route especially for Erasmus students which will be guided in English. The level of this route will not be hard. The trip starts 14th of April 2012. All 3 groups meet in a mountain cottage “Soszów” which is located in Wisła.
We meet at 7.15 in front of the Gliwice Railway Station. If you prefer to take on the train in Katowice, meet us there about 8.15.
We will go to Ustroń to climb Czantoria. Don’t worry! There’s a chairlift we’ll use so you won’t be too tired. There is a mountain shelter on the peak of this mountain. Our trek will not be too long – about 3-4 hours in the beautiful mountain scenery. Take comfortable shoes and clothes because there is no asphalt in the mountains.
Our route: Katowice – Ustroń Polana (by train – ticket destination Ustroń Polana) -> Chairlift -> Stokłosica -> Wielka Czantoria (985m) -> Beskidek Pass -> Wielki Soszów
We booked this mountain cottage: http://www.soszow.wisla.pl/
There will be many games and a lot of fun – you will meet a lot of interesting people and you have an occasion to participate in the best event during your whole Erasmus stay in Poland.
The price for Erasmus students: 25 PLN (incl. lodging, dinner, guide service and games with rewards). You have to pay extra for train tickets (aprox. 30 PLN).
Detailed information will be given by email or phone.
Remember: The places are LIMITED!!! The deadline is: 11.04.2012
Don’t hesitate to contact the organizer if you are interested or have any questions. All contact details here: http://www.skpg.gliwice.pl/#erasmus

1. Weather is like in whole central europe and in the whole Poland. It mean that we have 4 seasons :) Winter is usually really freeze, summer really hot, spring n autumn evenly balanced :) If u're coming here during winter u should take some warm clothes cause temperature may be from 5* to -15* degrees :) It's used to be to mid February we'll see what kind of the weather will be soon....
2. Cost of living.. well.. it depend on the country where do u actually live, cause if ur main currency in your country is euro u should have no problems with living costs, i mean food n accomodation of course. We have really weak currency, 4 times less than euro so for example if something cost about 4zł (pln) it's like 1 euro :) Single room with kitchen n bedroom cost is usually about 800-1500zl per month depend on the room standard, so it's like 200-300euro, but residence halls are more expensive i guess but easier to find.
3. In the bigger cities like Krakow, Katowice, Gliwic etc. are so much young ppl, so u can go out with a lot of people everynight :) Especially during the weekends in Katowice at Mariacka street and in Gliwice square. U can go out to Czech Republic also, it's really close to Ostrava from Katowice n Gliwice. U can go there by train for example :) Prices are about 13 euros, so it;s not so bad i guess.
The best way to find some accomodation is www.gumtree.pl but most offers are in polish so u can ask about help some your polish friend ;) or just ask your future college about help in find accomodation!
good luck everyone :)
