hi people
this is for the people who will choose dokuz eylul unvierstiy
well first the campus is kind of out of the city center
there many ways to reach to the transportations axesses from that location
but you should know this
comparing to overall european city. izmir is pretty big :)
so if you prefer to live near to the faculty. you will be a bit far from the what city offers to you
but in this area the rents are pretty low comparing to other parts of the city
since you should rent a furnished flat i believe it can not be higher than 300-400 euro for a flat. if you just find a flatmate. it will be pretty good deal
and currently bust tickets for students cost 1lira which makes only 33 sents currently
where i live is kind of close to this campus
by the way im also recently graduated from Yasar university
if you have more question about this area or Yasar. feel free to reach me on private messege
have fun to all

about the protest, fightings and violence issues
things are pretty settled now
and even when it was hot
there is nothing you should be worry about izmir
there is no basic way to tell this to you. but im gonna try
you will understand when you know the people in here.. izmir is one of the safest place on this problem because everybody more or less shares same ideologies and lifesteyle in here. so this city is not compact like istanbul is
unfortunately 8 people died. but in different cities at different times in different incidents. we all are sorry for them. and they are well respected people for us now.
but it has nothing related with your situation :)

Hi victor Sanchez :)
I don't know if the universities are the same, i think you must ask somelse because i need to search more :P
Victor Sanchez Geschreven 10 jaar geleden
A Girl (Sabrina) has told me that is not the same. Economics University is diferent to Yasar University. Hi Gurol, we go to Yasar University but for 9 months. We are looking for some flat but it is dificult from here. I dont know what is the best place. we want some flat near to the University

hi guys
for the people who goes to yaşar. living in bornova should be the best solution
location of the university is quiet nice to reach the city center and the town center of the bornova. right in front of the campus there is a metro station. it can take you to alsancak or center of bornova in really short time. and rents are lower comparing to alsancak
on the other hand probably alsancak will be the place you will spend your times mostly.
you should decide which one you want more. being in walking distance to your school or to party places :)
around bornova i dont think the rents will be higher than 1000try
last year the spanish students who i was their mentor friend in here was paying 900try for 3 rooms. all included except the internet.
but it looks like the economical conditions will change a bit till september. it can go higher or lower. but i dont think there will be pretty big difference.
if you need help for this. i may do some reasearch in following days

and my advice to all of you. find your flat after you come here. go and see it check it and decide.
last years some students made some mistakes about it. if you can ask to your schools for accomodation for a short time. like a month or a week. it will be the best for you.
renting a flat on photos is not always good as it seems.
there are lots of people who would like to help you on these complications
dont worry too much.. its just erasmus :)

hi Gurol. i go to Yasar University. What things are in this area¿¿ where is the party¿¿ in Bornova¿¿ this is the big question
Gurol Vural Geschreven 10 jaar geleden
victor. bornova has 2 different university campus in it. this area of the universities. it can described as a student town. also there is a big shopping mall with restaurants and cinemas in the walking distance. of course there are lots of bars around. your parties are there. but the real night life of the city in alsancak. better places with more diversity.
so the both may work. as a person who born and raised in izmir. my choise is always alsancak. either you go to a bar or you simply buy couple drinks and sit on the grasses next to the sea and drink with that huge crowd who drinks with you.
actually it doesnt matter much. because accesing to alsancak from bornova is really not a big deal.
live in bornova. eat in the places where serves turkish hommade food (quiet cheap for students). walk to your school. get used to drink tea. save your money. and kill every night in alsancak
is it a good answer :) ?
Victor Sanchez Geschreven 10 jaar geleden
All help is always good. I understand more or less. If i want live and save money i must stay in Bornova but the hard party is in alsancak. Is Bornova near to Yasar University is not¿
Gurol Vural Geschreven 10 jaar geleden
it is in bornova
if you just try to find a flat around bölge or bornova metro stations you will be in walking distance to yasar campus
but my advice is not forcing flat issue from now.. there will be lots of more option when the acedemic year gets closer. prices should be cheaper around that time. but your choise.. if you think you already find the right place.. go ahead

Marc Castell Geschreven 10 jaar geleden
Hey guys! My name is Marc and I'm from Barcelona. I'll go to Izmir in september to Yasar University Faculty of Communications with 2 more friends. We wouldn't stay in the university accommodation so we'll look for an apartment to rent with other/s students who don't speak spanish (we want to improve our english level). We have some classmates living now in a renting accommodation in Izmir and we probably can get their apartment when they leave it this summer, even so, we want to compare it with other renting accommodations in the city and choose the best solution. If anyone is interested let us know! :)
