Hey, I'm off to study in Deusto Univeristy in September for 2 semesters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else heading to Bilbao in September?
Verena V Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Hey,
I'm heading to Bilbao already in August since at the end of August there is a placement test for the Spanish classes. There is a really big party in Bilbao called the Semana Grande at that time maybe arriving a little sooner is worth it ;-)

Hi, yes I plan to go there the last week in August. Do you know where you're going to live? Have you registered with Deusto University yet? I haven't. I am still waiting on information from my home UNiversity.
Verena V Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Same with me... Home University is too slow. I really don't have a clue where to live...

Hey, Im going to deusto for 2 semesters as well. Currently trying to fill out my learning agreement and find a place to stay! total nightmare haha.
Órla Conroy Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Hey. I can't fill out anything until I get the 'Welcome' email from Deusto, which I'm still waiting on. I hope there's no deadline!? The Spanish Dept in my home University is so slow and unreliable!
Are you getting accommodation through the college?
Verena V Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
As far as I know, the deadline is the 15th of June. You should have sent the email with the learning agreement and so on until then...
I wanted to search a shared flat and you?

I got my welcome pack through a month ago from deusto, but I think my university are quite organized! the deadlines the 15th of june to send your registration stuff so you've still got plenty of time. Nah im just going to go out and book a hostel for a week or 2 and find a flat. Im probably going to use www.alkila.net to find a flat though, pretty decent site - the university flats seem a bit more expensive than other ones in the city!

Hi! I thought to book a hostel too for the first weeks, but how have you found that website?I heard also about a campus that is very nice, where you can book a room, it's called Blas de otero, but it's quite expensive too..about 500 euros each month..I think that I will look for something inside <University, there will be a lot of students looking for flats!
bye :)

Hey marta,
a friend who lives in bilbao just now recommended it to me! it could be quite useful when we're out there as a good place to start. I agree, I think there will be a lot of students at the university looking for a flat so it wont be difficult to find one. And like you, i would rather look for a flat than have the university give me one - adds to the experience/fun of the exchange! :)
marta raimondi Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Hi matthew ,
yes, I agree with you
I will look for a flat in Deusto area or in Santutxu, a spanish boy just recommended it to me, because there are a lot of students and bar or place where you can have fun or simply have a break!I hope that everything will be alright, I have also to start some spanish courses, I don't speak spanish, I only undestand a bit thanks to my italian language!! ahaha.
I have also found this two websites .. : http://coompy.es/rental-rooms-bilbao and http://spain.gabinohome.com/en/rent+room/bilbao.
Have you just been to Bilbao or on erasmus?
I'm so excited :)
Matthew Scott Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Hey,
cool cheers for that, I'll probably try and get one as near the university as possible so i dont get lost haha. Are you studying in spanish or english when you go over? Nah i've never been to Bilbao before but i've heard its a great city and the university im going to is very good so thats why i chose it! I might go over in the summer and check it out but im not sure yet. hahah yeah same, cant wait for it!
marta raimondi Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
I'll try to study in english where i can, but i 'm afraid the most of courses will be in spanish.
I've never been too ahah and I'll go over in july probably too.
everyone told me the same, bilbao seems to be awesome.
how long will you stay over there?I'll stay for six months :)
Matthew Scott Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
Yeah I think the majority of the courses are in Spanish, so that should make it interesting! probably staying for about 7-8 months but probably going to try and travel about Spain and see some other cities when I can, I've got quite a lot of friends in Madrid and Granada as well!
marta raimondi Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
interesting and hard ahaha
i'd like to travel too, once i'll fix everything :)
Matthew Scott Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
correct! Yeah i've been told since there are quite a lot of public holidays during the semester you have quite a lot of time to travel which should be fun. :)
marta raimondi Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
cool :)
(I've just read that there are Radiohead in concert on July! wwwwuaao!)
Matthew Scott Geschreven 12 jaar geleden
excellent! i'll need to do some research and see where the best places to go on a night out are! i can imagine there are lots of bars and clubs.
