The Nova SBE Master’s in Management and the International Master’s in Management are designed for students from any graduate background wishing to gain a management education. That is why we have core courses, areas of expertise, electives, and professional development modules, where you can choose specific subjects that best suit your academic and professional goals. It's a customizable learning experience, so you can align your education and professional skills to excel in what you are good at.

With this new area of expertise our students will be able to develop and manage organizations with unique customer experiences and to understand current trends in terms of hospitality industry and customer behaviour and their impact in service management.

Students will have an initial tourism & hospitality immersion in Cascais (with Cascais Municipality) and after the 1st semester will have study trips to selected partners to understand current challenges in the hospitality industry. At the end of the 2nd semester, students will participate in a Hospitality Experience Innovation Lab, an innovation program that will give students the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills, to develop their own projects and even start their own businesses - students will explore challenges in 2 immersion programs (2 weeks in a Hotel School plus 4 weeks in a hotel) and will participate in a 4-6 weeks acceleration program to develop their ideas and projects. This will feed their capstone Work Project to be developed in the 3rd semester. Innovation and entrepreneurship

If you like to communicate, launch and improve products and services, deliver superior customer value, the Marketing expertise area may be the right one for you. Take a look at the following courses:
Operations management
Can you develop and implement techniques to improve business processes and production? With these courses, you will. Tackles such issues as business process re-engineering, quality management, improving customer service, inventory systems, managing manufacturing, supply chain management, and project management.
Social enterprise
Focusses on building leadership skills and awareness of socially responsible global leaders in both for-profit corporations and non-profit organizations, in different types of positions including consulting, financial services and consumer products, educational and health institutions, social services and governmental institutions.
Strategy and international business
Do you see the world as a big marketplace? This expertise area will help you understand customers and competitors, their strengths and weaknesses, the complex business and institutional environments, and the existing resource constraints, on an international scale.

The Work Project
Students must complete a Master’s Work Project, which is equivalent to a Master's Thesis. You can choose one of the following to finish your studies with flying colors.
Directed Research
An original piece of work on a topic proposed and supervised by a professor. This may also take the form of a case study.
Field Lab
A group project developed in collaboration with a public or private institution and under supervision by a professor.
Internship
An internship where students develop a project in a problem-solving format for a company, in response to a predefined question/problem raised by the host organization and under the supervision of a Nova SBE Professor. Students may apply for internships offered by Nova SBE or obtain one directly from a company through their own contacts.

How does the grading system work?
Grading is based upon the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), a grading scale developed to better understand and compare grades given, according to different national systems.
We did the math for you and the awarding of ECTS grades breaks down as follows:
30 ECTS
in Mandatory Courses including the Mastering Your Career Activities
(Bridging courses not included)
28 ECTS
in Elective Courses (minimum)
2 ECTS
in Professional Development Modules
30 ECTS
in the Work Project
90 ECTS Total do graduate
You need a minimum of 90 ECTS to complete your Master’s, but if you need 120 ECTS to proceed with your studies, you can extend your Master’s by one semester with courses (28 ECTS) and modules (2 ECTS).
