Hello, I'm Federica and i come from Genova, Italy.. I will spent the winter semester in Orleans and i'm looking for some informations about accommodations. The University of Orleans has proposed me a studio in the campus, but I will prefer the city centre . I know that we can have a private accommodation through the CROUS, but only when we arrived at Orleans. I'm still undecided, because I think the campus is inconvenient and too distant from the centre . What do you think? Someone will take a private house in the centre ?Annulla modifiche

Hello! My English is bad but I'll try to explain. The campus is 20 minutes by train from the city center and it closes at 11 pm. On campus are almost all the powers so there is more student life but the clubs, bars and shops are in the city center. I go to residence, and there I'll see if I look flat or not, because here is complicated.

Hi! I'm also going to Orleans for the winter semester. :) I will be living in Dessaux, and it's located in the city centre, rue de la Folie. Maybe you should check this place? :)

Hey! I'm also going just for the first semster. They suggested me to go to Les roses or to Châtaigniers (both are student residences on campus), and I have to pay before the 1st of July. I thought a lot about going to a residence on campus or to the centre, but finally I decided to go to the campus, because I have to go to Uni everyday no matter what, but going to the centre is not obligatory. Besides, everything on campus is going to be focused on students so I don't think I'll be missing anything there.

Yeah, that's great I won't be the only Erasmus student in Dessaux! :)

Hello, Im living in dessaux (centre), i was here all the year in Erasmus. My case is different because I was studying in the ESAD (this school is in the centre). If you study in the campus I dont really know what is better. For me, I like the centre very much, because once you make some friends, then you realize that all of them live very very near one from each other. The centre is like a village. But I understand that people from the campus do a lot of comunity life there in the campus, and if you live in the centre you'll have problems to make partys there and then come back without train...

Hi Pablo!
If you're living in Dessaux, can you tell us if the residence includes the household items (sheets, cutlery...) because I know people who are in other residences and have these things but there are other ones who haven't it...
Merciii

Dessaux includes light and water in the prize (not like Campo Santo), but, the matress you have to pay for them, and you can pay also for having kitchen stuff, so is not included.
Déborah Rodríguez Scritto 12 anni fa
Ok, thanks. I'll buy it in Carrofour or I'll take it from Spain xD

I've got the same plan ;) Hey Pablo, can you tell if in Dessaux there are things like irons and vacuum cleaners etc.?
Pablo Rego Scritto 12 anni fa
Nothing included. But they have Pots to rent (I dont know if cutlery too). When I was there I rented the matress for the bed. The rest I bought it in Carrefour : )
Another interesting information:
Officialy the rooms of dessaux have the same size (at least the rooms with the same price), but is not exactly like that. In the second semester I asked them to change the room to one that my friend was leaving, because it was bigger. When I went to speak with them they asked me why I wanted to do it. They didnt admit that it was bigger (I think because the official thing) and maybe if you ask them to have one or another room they ignore you. But try. Usually there are 2 women in the secretary. One with glasses/short hair and the second with log hair/dark-solarium-skin. This second one is a motherf***** and is always making things difficult. If you can speak with the other is much better, if you cant, only smile
For example, room 311 is the bigger I saw, if you have the opportunity to ask for it...
More random info:
-If you like music very much (I mean live music) there is a bar called JAVA POP very near to dessaux where you can enjoy very cool Jam Sessions or Concerts on Sundays nights. Sometimes they have this Jams even other days of the week. This Jams are awsome, sometimes you'll see very very good musicians. And if you have the opportunity to became friend of this musicians much better. They are the best people in Orleans.
-If you are afraid of spiders is a bad place for you, at the beginning of the course you'll see spiders everywhere, specially on windows and street lights. But dont worry so much, with the winter they dissapear.
-If you want to know things about party. French people has very early time living to everything (in compare with spain). They eat at 12:30, have dinner at 19:30 and a lot of them leave party at 01:00. But always you'll see people that stay in the party. They like also to do partys in appartments, because the drink is cheaper and the place is warmer.
When you arrive in September or October, the good weather will remain some time, and a lot of people will be drinking in the river. Very cool place. Some stupid people too, but..
In this early season specially girls have care in the night in the street. There is a lot of motherf****s in Orleans.
-I dont want to spend all my life saying things, but the last thing. Orleans is more interesting when you search a bit. Is not like Barcelona, where at the 1st day you have seen a lot of things. Orleans is not so 'superficial', so all the things have to be discovered.

Hi! I'm going on erasmus to orleans for the whole academic year 2013/2014, I was going to paris but in the end I was not admitted so I had to change university. Since I had already applied for the CROUS with residences in paris I cannot ask for CROUS residences in orleans. Do any of you know whether I can apply to any residence now or when I get there in early September? ? it would be very helpful for me if you could give me some information since you have already gone through this stressful beginning :) thank you in advance!!!
