Paying Taxes While Interning Abroad

I'm looking to do a one year internship/placement in Spain as part of my degree and I recently came across something about paying tax.

I'm from the UK and here taxes are taken out of your pay but I've read people working in Spain must file a tax return and pay income tax. I'm hoping to be there for more than 6 months which would class me as a resident.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
