Reindeer day (celebración del día del reno)

Today, I'm gonna talk about an finnish event that took place in the northern Finland, the Reindeer Day.

When the sun started to rise up the cold and blue sky, I woke up quickly and I saw the white and frozen landscape in front of my eyes. The day was really clear and sunny, it wasn't typical in northern Finland, I thought. The weather of the day encouraged me to go out.

Thus, as I knew that day there was a spetial finnish event in the city center, I met with another spanish guy (from Málaga).

Once time, me and my friend were ready to go there and we went by bike from our apartments, located in Yliopistokatu to the city center (Oulu). The total lenght of this journey was about 6 km (rountrip 12 km). The way was covered by a thick layer of frozen ice and the natural surroundings were covered a by great layer of snow (more than 50 cms acumulated). But this, it wasn't a really hazard for us.

On the other hand, we could take a lot of photos, during the sunny journey, most of them of the finnish landscape.

Later, we arrived at our destination: the marketplace square. It was very crowded. We parked our bikes in parking and we walked around the Policeman square (also known Fat man police xD). The surroundings of the marketplace there were several things to see: a children's sliding ice, reindeer's sledge, a souvenir's finnish kauppa (shop), makkara cookers site, and some typical clothing retailers.

But certainly, the main attraction was the reeinder race, it consisted with two pairs reeinder's ski riders. The aim of the race was who was the fastest directly.

The race itself was good and in punctual moments even exciting, but their duration was short of time.

The story of the day was the music that we heard it came from the south of Spain (Andalucia). I couldn't believe it! but it was true xD. The songs were sung by a finnish voice younger girl that it was directly translated into spanish. I have to say it: it was very cool!

After that, me and other people adressed to eat something to some;restaurant; located in the core of the city center.

Last, I let you some photos :)

And the video of the race:
