Accommodation

Hi! I'm a French student from Leeds University, going to Bordeaux III in September. I am a little sceptical about finding accommodation; I want to live in halls but have heard that it's unlikely I will get in, and that they're not very nice! I found a privately owned student residence near the city centre which looked perfect but I've been told it's in a bit of a dodgy area. Has anyone foudn anything yet/can help me?! Thank you!
