Hi!

I'm going to Belfast next september to study there for a year and I would like to know more about the accommodation, the flights and the city in general.

Anybody is going there too?

Hi! I'm going to Belfast next september too with a friend. Nice to meet you :)

I'm looking for the best accommodation too but I don't really know what to choose... Accommodations in the university are so expensive!  My friend wants to go there to meet a lot of other students but paying 100€/week for a little bedroom is really expensive, so I don't know what to do. Maybe private flats could be better.

What do you think? Did you find more informations?

Hi! :)

I'm going to Belfast next september too, in which university will you study?

We have a group in facebook to talk about it. You can join us if you want...

The name of the group is: Erasmus Belfast 2013 2014.

Hey!!

I'm from Granada and I'm going to Belfast too, to study my last year of Geography at Queen's. I still don't know where I'm going to live, but the residence halls seem to be very expensive, so I'd prefer to rent a private room. I know some people there and everybody says that private accommodation is better, as residence halls are full of freshers and have strict living rooms (but they offer lots of activities, on the other side).

Marta, I can't find the group on FB!! Anyone going to Belfast, feel free to add me. Search Jillerme and you'll find me!

Hi everyone I live in Belfast so I'm happy to answer any questions!

Hi all! :)

Marta: I will study law. I would be glad to join your Facebook group but I can't find it too :( . My Facebook: Kyu Picoreau

Caoimhe: Thank you for your help! Can you tell us more about accommodations in Belfast? Queen's bedrooms are expensive but all is include (electricity, water, Internet...) , and in the other side private rooms are cheaper but we have to look for everything... What do you think is the best accommodation? Are electricty, Internet and water expensive?

Jillerme: Did your friends told you about the costs in private accomodations? (yeah prices  are important for me :( )

Hi !

¿Is there any Computer Science student?^^ I will study at Queen's too.

Hi Kyu :)

Student accomodation in Belfast is pretty good, if you want to stay in the elms halls of residence (about 12 minute walk from Queen's) the facilities are great and they have lots of events etc and loads of people to make friends with, but they are quite expensive often around £400 (bills included)! I live in a private house in Stranmillis (about 7 minute walk from Queen's). I pay £250 a month, not including internet or gas etc, but we live in a beautiful house, the average price in this area is £230 a month, because it is a nice area and the houses are lovely. The other good student area is around the Lisburn Road (anything between 5 and 20 minutes walk- its a very big road haha). It has loads of cafes, shops, bars etc so you have everything really close, I think it is the best option for private accommodation as the house are cheaper, mostly around £200 a month. The houses arent always as nice but are totally fine for student living!

Luckily we do not have to pay for water here :) So your charges will be electrivc, gas/oil, and internet/tv. Plus you have to pay for a tv license but we all wait until you get a note about it, that way you can usually have 2 or 3 months without paying it.

Gas is the best for a house, its really cheap about £10 a week per house so if you live with 4 people it will only be £2.5 a week for heating! For internet and TV we pay £40 per month so £10 each, but you can get a cheaper deal if you look around.

Overall Belfast isn't too expensive to live in. I spend around £20 a week on food.

Unlike most cities, you cant really live in Belfast city centre. Students all live close to queens, less than 20 minutes walk. To reach the centre of the city its 15 minutes walk from queens or about 8 minutes on the bus. Getting around is really easy.

So basically if you are looking for accomodation I would recommend houses in the areas of Stranmillis, Lisburn Road, Botanic Avenue and the Ormeau Road.

If you have any more questions just ask!

Hi,

I will be studying in Belfast as well. Although I will attend law classes at Ulster University at Jordanstown. Is there anybody else going there?

Caoimhe, do you know students from Jordanstown living in Belfast? Are they living in the same houses as the Queens students? In the areas you named?
