Hi, Maia! What would you like to do in Trieste/Udine? The universities are good, if you have low income in your family, you can even compete for scholarship and get a refund for almost all university fees you pay. Trieste is a beautiful city with well known architecture, it's on the sea so during the summer you can even go for a swim at the local beaches of Barcola and Ausonia or a bit further Sistiana. It has a beutiful campus at Piazzale Europa with lots of facilities - student residences, computer rooms, bar, a park and lots of greenary. Some universities, though, are also in the city center. If you want to go out in Trieste, during the school/academic year probably the best day is Wednesday because all the clubs are open (the most famous ones in Viale XX settembre such as Macaki etc.). During the summer, on the other hand, the discos open in the city center such as Mandracchio and Ausonia. And of course, Trieste is excellent for shopping. There is a shopping mall Torri D'Europa which can easily be reached by the public transport and there is the famous street Corso Italia with the lots of shops.

Udine is smaller than Trieste, maybe livelier a bit. It also has a lot of bars, pubs and discos where you can hang out. Most universities are in the city center, but natural sciences and engineering are at the special campus Rizzi, on the outskirts of the city. The public transport is the best, it has several bus lines which run rarely and I suggest, if you decide to move here, to buy a bike because it's probably the best way to get around. Udine has a lot of green surfaces and parks, probably the most famous is Parco del Cormor. And not to forget the enormous shopping mall Cittafiera where you can shop till you drop xD!
