What is it like to live in Linz? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I didn‘t live in Linz, just studied there. It‘s a nice city with a huge range of restaurants, shopping malls, leisure activities, ...
The public transport network is really great and reliable.

What is the student lifestyle like in Linz?

I enjoy studying in Linz because the staff is friendly and as a student you are‘nt just a number like in big cities. You get to know your colleagues within the first weeks.

How much does it cost to live in Linz?

It depends on the location, size and type of accomodation. I would recommend a student hostel instead of a flat. It costs about 250 - 450€. Flats in the Center are more expensive (Minimum of 600€).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Linz? Is there any advice you can give?

I would recommend a student hostel instead of a flat.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Linz you get all different kind of food (traditional, chinese, italian ...). I highly recommend to taste Pizza in the restaurant called L‘Osteria. If you are looking for a good cocktail in a rooftop-bar, „Sky Bar“ is the place to go. There are also food delivery services.

What places would you recommend visiting in Linz?

You definitely have to enjoy the view from the Postlingberg. If you are interested in technology, the Ars Electronica Centre will be like heaven. Of course there are interesting architectural builidungs as the comparison between „the old and new cathedral“. Really exciting for groups is the Game called „Exit the Room“.

Is it good to eat out in Linz? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, but I haven‘t ate out that often. My favourite spot isn‘t directly in the center, but definitely worth the drive. It‘s called „Rauner“ and so delicious. For vegetarian the Restaurant „Gelbes Krokodil“ is the best. Typical Austrian food is available at Leberkas-Pepi (meat called Leberkäse), Klosterhof, Josef, Stadtliebe and Promenadenhof.

Is the nightlife good in Linz? Where is good to go?

There are enough bars and clubs. In the center I like to meet friends in the bar „stadtliebe“ or to dance in „Remembar“. Musikpark A1 is a well-known club, but not located directly in the center.

What advice would you give future students heading to Linz?

Don‘t stay in the city, enjoy the mountains.
