Coimbra is a great city to live. Located in the center of the country, near beaches and mountains.

What is the student lifestyle like in Coimbra?

Coimbra has a very active student scene.

How much does it cost to live in Coimbra?

It's much cheaper than Lisbon and Porto.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Coimbra? Is there any advice you can give?

It is difficult to find a house at last minute, so do it as soon as you can.


What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Roasted suckling pig, "chanfaina", roasted lamb in wood-fired oven; Lamprey rice or "à lagareiro" octopus and all kind of soup. As for tradicional sweets: Rice pudding, "arrufadas" or "pastel de Tentúgal" and "queijadas" are some of the local delights.

What places would you recommend visiting in Coimbra?

  • Museu da Ciência,
  • Museu Machado de Castro.

Is it good to eat out in Coimbra? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are great restaurants in the city, like Restaurante Giro, Cervejaria Parque, Restaurante Jardim da Manga.
