What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would recommend living in Zagreb. It is a beautiful city with a lot of culture and history. Although it is not big as some other European capitals but it has a lot to offer.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?

I think it is pretty much like anywhere else. It can be really stressful if you have a lot of commitments or classes but also there are a lot of interesting activities you can do in your free time.

How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?

It depends on individual lifestyle, in my opinion it`s not really expensive. Prices are affordable.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zagreb? Is there any advice you can give?

Finding accommodation in Zagreb is quite simple because there are a lots of apartments available for rent. You can find nice one bedroom apartment in center of Zagreb for about 200 euros. Utilities are usually paid separately. I would recommend living with roommates , it is cheaper that way. Also you can find accommodation in students dorms.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Croatian food is delicious and you can always find a cheap restaurant. There are lots of students cafeterias all around the city and selection of food there is great. If you have students card (which you get on your faculty), then you can have a meal for 1-2 euros.

What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?

Definitely main square and narrow center of Zagreb. Park Maksimir is very nice and also it offers a ZOO. There are two small lakes where you can relax called Jarun and Bundek. One of the most famous attractions is Zagreb Cathedral which you can see from main square and it is located in part of Zagreb called Kaptol. Zagreb also offers a lots of museums and galleries, and you can find more about them in tourist offices.

Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Like I said, food is delicious. There are lots of good restaurants in Tklačićeva street.

Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?

Great thing about nightlife in Zagreb is that it is versatile. If you like clubbing you can visit some of the night clubs located in Jarun or a club called Green Gold or History. If you are more alternative person you can go to Vintage Industrial Bar, Močvara or Hard Place (good concerts there).

What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?

Zagreb is great, have fun! :)
