What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Zagreb is the largest university city in Croatia, so it has many young people, therefore nightlife is pretty good, and it's not too big or too crowded, so life in Zagreb is recommendable.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?

It's really good, except if you live at the neighbourhoods that are far away from the center, because that can be very frustrating due to the fact that there can be big traffic jams and there is no metro, just trams, trains and buses.

How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?

In comparison to Germany or Northern Italy, it is cheaper, but it is still more expensive than, for example, Czech Republic or Serbia.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is great! There is international food, many Italian dishes as well. My favourite dish is Štrukle, must try! :) And also, all kinds of cakes, such as Kremšnite.

What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?

Gornji grad, Cathedral, Park Zrinjevac, Maksimir, Botanical garden, Lake Jarun... .

Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?

  • "Lemon"
  • "Peppermint"
  • "VIP club"
  • "History"

Could you give any advice for future Erasmus studens heading to Zagreb in the future?

If you're looking for European city that is urbanised, but still not too crowded and capitalised, this is the right place for you. The transport connections are very good so you can easily visit the most famous Croatian cities, even the ones next to the seaside. Enjoy!
