What is it like to live in Vilnius? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Life in Vilnius is pretty quiet during winter but quite eventful now because spring has come. Especially in Old Town, you can see many street performers playing musical instruments and singing, many tourists and many local people sitting in the coffee shops along the streets. Probably, to others, Vilnius is not as good as other cities in Europe but to me, I definitely recommend, I may have not visited any other better city yet but I am so much in love with this place and I feel like home here. It is a little gloomy during winter but now it is so much better in Vilnius, warm and sunny and the most important thing, uncrowded.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?

Student lifestyle is quite eventful here. Universities usually organize many events such as orientation or language classes for students to take part in and to help the integrate in the society. There are also many night clubs and pubs for students.

How much does it cost to live in Vilnius?

I think Vilnius is quite cheaper than other cities in Europe. With student card, you can buy a monthly bus card for only 20 litas. The monthly expense ranges from 1000-2000 litas per month, depends on your lifestyle of course. I spend economically so it is around 1000 litas per month for me.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vilnius? Is there any advice you can give?

It is quite difficult to find flat because you will have to go through agency and pay an amount of fee. I am not quite sure about this procedure but this is what my friend had to do. I am living in university dormitory.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In my opinion, food is not so special here. I'd rather try food from many countries than local food. Since I have some international friends here; therefore, I can try food from different cultures, it is quite exotic to me.

What places would you recommend visiting in Vilnius?

Go to Old Town, a really beautiful place.

Is it good to eat out in Vilnius? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it's ok to eat out in Vilnius, my favourite spot is Shanti restaurant. Well, I am not eating there often but I really like the food they make because it fits my taste. I am Asian by the way.

Is the nightlife good in Vilnius? Where is good to go?

Most students here go to Salento.

What advice would you give future students heading to Vilnius?

Be who you are and don't be so friendly with people you have just met because sometimes it is not comfortable for them.
