What is it like to live in Vilnius? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Vilnius is saturated with pure coziness. It is a great place to live with the proviso that you have a suitable job. The atmosphere is essentially calm. There are many available entertainments like parks, bars, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, museums, and so on. Vilnius is a very family-friendly city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?

There are a lot of various restaurants and cafés which are not too expensive, so students usually eat out quite often in Vilnius. Some clubs organize special Erasmus events, so there is also fairly enough of partying. Regarding the university, there is a 24/7 library available where you can use computers and other needed resources for a small additional fee (here you can see how it looks like: mb. vu.lt/en/). Generally, Vilnius is a foreigners-friendly city.

How much does it cost to live in Vilnius?

Cost of life is average for Euro Area, however, it is fairly cheaper than Estonia for example. You can check CPI or check Numbeo: numbeo (the information is quite accurate).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vilnius? Is there any advice you can give?

There are dormitories available for students. So you might want to check this option first as prices in dormitories are cheaper than other options. Among those options can be renting. However, renting an apartment can be quite expensive in winter because of the use of heating. This website can be useful for you: studyinlithuania.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Lithuanian traditional food mostly contain meat and potatoes, so be aware of it if you're a vegetarian. Yet there are enough options for vegetarians too. Lithuanians also love pizza and crepes, so there's a lot of this kind of food. There are many cozy cafes and bakeries available all over the center of Vilnius. Besides tasty sandwiches in supermarkets. My favorite dishes are pizza, sushi and Coffee Inn cheesecake (Coffee Inn cheesecake is a must-try).

What places would you recommend visiting in Vilnius?

The city center is full of beauties. You will surely see the Tower of Gediminas, Three Cross Hill and The Republic of Užupis. Everybody will recommend you to visit Trakai, a nearby small town with many lakes and an old castle. You can find very interesting information here: madeinvilnius
