Why did you choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania?

Because is the capital of Lithuania, Lithuania is very cheap and I wanted to try the different of the weather from the south of Europe.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

200€ per month, during 5 month max. Don't expect to have the money during the Erasmus, it will come after that for sure.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?

In Vilnius there are differents universities which have a lot of erasmus students, most of the universities have ESN sections who organise a lot of activies and events for erasmus students, so you will not be bored and you will meet a lot of students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vilnius to other students?

I recommend Vilnius because is a quiet city, not to big, so you can move by walk or bus. You can find cultural events during the day and good party at night. Geographycaly it is located in the center of Europe so you can travel to many country around Lithuania.

What is the food like?

The most typical in Vilnius are soups and food made by potatoes like potatoes filled with meat. Also you can find a lot pizzeries around all the city with very cheap prices.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vilnius?

In general it's not difficult to find a flat or also you can find some dormitories and hostel where to live.

How much does it cost to live in Vilnius?

I lived in Corner hotel and I paid 220€ + utilities (20€+/-) per month but you can find dormitories by 50€ with the handicap of shared bath.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Some universities offer Lithuanian courses but it is not needed to learn if you only will stay for a few months. Most of the young people speak english.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vilnius from your city?

By plane with Ryanair.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vilnius?

Salento is the main erasmus nightclub with erasmus party every Tuesday, but if you are looking for nice nightclubs you have to try Grand Club, Cocaine, Exit, or Opium if you love house music.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vilnius?

Cancan Pizza and Chili Pizza are good options to go have lunch or dinner. Hesburguer is the most cheap burguer with menús from 3€ and if you want to try typical Lithuanian food go to Chili Caimas.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Vilnius in the future?

Bring very warm clothes for the winter.
