I went in Wien for my Eramus study project in order to do a practical experience in a lab. I had to choose between Castilla La Mancha (organic chemistry research project) and Wien (plant project), but after listening my friends suggestions, I decided for Wien. I stayed for 6 months with a mobility grant of 230 euros/month, so with this ´´help´´ I could pay my month rent (in a double room) for only 4 months. In the lab, I learnt a lot about genetical and phytochemical topics, thanks to my smart and kind tutor. I was impressed both by the high level of knowledges and kindness of the research staff and by the great amount of financial resources that they have.

Regarding the city, the old Wien is really breathtaking...it´s cleaned, cured, full of amazing landscapes...but the prized of the museums and castles are really too high in comparison to Paris and Rome, that have more things to show. If you are a student, you receive a discount of 1 euro! The transport system, to me, is really good because it is constituted by tram, bus, metro and train, that are usually on time, quite cleaned and silent. The single ticket is expensive (it is not good for supporting turism): 2.30! However the semester ticket is for 75 euros!

The food? The typical austrian food is really hard to find, instead there are dozens of chinese, oriental, turkish restourants where the prizes are the same as in Italy. I was upset when i discovered that the bakeries (Anker, Aida etc) don´t make the sweets in loco and above all they are not little handcraft laboratories, but chains! The prizes for the quality of them are without any sense...a croissant is for at about 2 euros! For sure, in France and Italy you find something amazing for that amount of money.
