What is the student lifestyle like in Vienna?

It depends on how busy you are at the University - but generally there are thousands of things to do every day.

How much does it cost to live in Vienna?

It's pretty average. For living in a shared apartment you would have to calculate € 300 - 500 a month. Really depends on the location!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vienna? Is there any advice you can give?

There are plenty of offers, so it would not be so difficult to find a room in a shared apartment. If you are an exchange student don't hesitate to ask if there are any offers for living at the CIEM of your exchange University. Also check these sites:

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is quite international - there is Austrian, Asian, Italian cuisine and so on. You will also find lots of bakeries, coffee shops and lots of cafes due to the Vienna cafe culture!

Is it good to eat out in Vienna? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, really good. I love eating out at:

  • Vapiano (Italian)
  • Ü (Austrian food from Vorarlberg)
  • Flugfish (Asian - tasty & quite cheap but the restaurant itself looks funny inside)
  • Pizzeria Giuliano
  • Flatschers (best steaks in town - but expensive! )
  • Sapa

Is the nightlife good in Vienna? Where is good to go?

It is fun and there is a variety of scenes for everybody. My favourites:

  • Pratersauna
  • Volksgarten
  • Travel Shack
  • Chelsea
  • Grelle Forelle
  • Flex

What advice would you give future students headed to Vienna?

Try as many things out as possible - Vienna is a great place to live and study!
