How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship lasted 10 months but I stayed in Tallin for 15 months. I recieved around 150€/month but it was not enough for living costs, so I decided to take part-time job.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Tallinn to other students?

Estonia is a really interesting country. Culture and life there is really different from many other countries that I know. The university is just nice: teachers are kind, the building of TTÜ is new and everythig is well organized.

What is the food like?

Estonian food is quite similar to German food. Thus, be aware to eat pork, potatoes and sour cream.

How much does it cost to live in Tallinn?

I spent around 300-350€/month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Estonian language is not easy at all but EVERYONE speaks English, which makes living there really easy. Even so, there are many courses available an the Uni for those who really want to learn the language.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Tallinn from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Tallinn?

Pfff.. there are many many pubs in the Old Town, so it would not be a problem. Tutors from ESN will do a pub-tour for sure at the beginning of the academic semester, so do not worry about that.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Tallinn?

Good restaurants: Vapiano (a German company which cook Italian food) and Boheme (Estonian restauran, Estonian food, good and cheap).

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Tartu, Hääpsalu, Viljandi and of course the countryside.

Tartu
