Hi !

I'm Josselin a french student in Le Mans in France. I will come to Sofia next year to study at university of economy ! I know absolutely nothing on Bulgaria and Sofia.

I would like to know if it is recommended to live in hall of residence or if it is better to make a collocation ?

If the collocation it is better, in which district of Sofia?

I would like  to meet people who go there next year and who possibly are interested for a collocation.

Josselin

Hey Josselin,

To be frank living in the hall residences of the Universities in Bulgaria is defintely a cheaper option but not exactly recommended as the spaces are small, old, there is molt and you will have to share. Also transportation is not always a sure thing.

If you are to rent a two bedroom apartment somewhere at the center or one of the surrounding neighborhoods , you are looking at about 250 euros per month + utilities.

Hello !

I am Daphné. I am going to study medicine the next year in Sofia (from september to june include)

I am so happy to go in a foreign country next year. I want to visit Sofia (sure !) the next year  but also I hope other places in Bulgaria. And maybe others countries :) (Turkey and Greece next to bulgaria ;) )

I have already found a flat but I look for 2 flatmates.

So If you are interested in a colocation, you can contact me The flat is very nice, and in the center of Sofia.I I can give you more informations and photos ;)

Hey guys,

I am a German politics student and I will serve an internship in Sofia from the beginning of September to the end of December 2014.  So anyone would be willing to meet, have some coffee,...? Greetings from Germany - Judith. :)

I have just found this site and current forum so I want to try to gather some information that can be useful. I am a master psychology student in Belgrade, Serbia and I will be in  a one-month student visit in Sofia in October 2014. I am very happy to see that there are a lot of people trying to exchange experiences. I would like to know what is the best way to meet new people in Sofia (other the ones you are working with while you are there) and how to look for a place to live for such a short time (only one month).

Thank you in advance for any help.

MIlena :)

Hi!

I am Barnabás from Hungary where I study logistics management. I will spend the first semester of 2014/15 in Sofia at VTU.

I have decided to move to a student hostel because I would like to make friends among the bulgarian students. I hope for the best, but if I don't like it, I would change to an appartement. I will figure it out there. However, I would be happy to meet others as well, like you people, in this forum, so I am up to any social activity.

Meet you there,
B

Hello, I'm elyse.

I'm a French student coming from Strasbourg. I will be in Sofia 3 months (june, july, august) for an Internship with the aeronautic part of the University of Sofia. Im looking for a flat and some people which stay during the summer.

Or some advices about the Life in sofia. I hope someone Will answer me.

elyse

Hi Elyse,

If you will look for an apartment remotely I would recommend to get a local (if you have any friends or acquaintances here) so they can check it first and send you pictures before you rent it and they can negotiate rent and all for you.
The best option would be however for you to come to Bulgaria and look for yourself of course as a lot of times the ads do not correspond to the reality.

Life is Sofia is pretty great however. The public transport in the city can be tedious but it is effective and it is a better option for  foreigners as the taxi services tend to screw you over...a lot. You can practicly get to any point of the city by bus, tram, troley, metro.
The metro has been recently expanded so it is even easier to get around. Tickets for the public transport cost about 50 euro cents or 1 BGN. One day, all transport card is 2 euros approximately.
The Tourist Information office located in the subway of Sofia University offers tons and tons of information on what you can see, where and how you can go and so on, and not only for Sofia but the whole Country. So definitely stop by. They have booklets on nightclubs, eco paths, free tours, etc..
As in any other place, all the safety tips apply, keep your wallet in a safe place, do not carry all your documents around, things of common sense that will keep you safe.

If you have any particular questions please let me know.
