Why did you choose to go to Sassari, Italy?

I wanted to practise the Italian language, and my school had a relation with the university of Sassari. And people who had been there offered me to go.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am staying there for 3 and a half months, and that means around 1800€. That won't be enough.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sassari?

The Erasmus Students Association is really great, they help you a lot and organizes a lot of programmes. But in the university (UNISS) the Italian students are not so social with erasmus students, although there are always exceptions.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Sassari to other students?

Definitely! I fell in love with the city in the first days. After you get to know the city and the streets (really soon) you start to feel like home. At least this happened with me.

What is the food like?

Pizza and pasta! And of course there are some others as well, but mostly tipical Italian food.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Sassari?

No. I had found a girl with the same nationality there and she offered a room in the flat where she lived, because she was moving out at the time I got there. But the ESN (mentioned before) helps you free get an appartment and you can stay in a B&B for the first night free (at least with UNISS).

How much does it cost to live in Sassari?

Well.. Not easy to answer. My room is around 200-210€ with every costs, and above that there is food, travel, parties...

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are free language courses in the University! The teachers are really nice! And the difficulty of language always depends on people.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sassari from your city?

I live in Hungary but I am flying from Bratislava to Alghero by Ryanair. From Alghero to Sassari there are some buses everyday for 4€.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sassari?

My all time favourite is Kiss Club, but there are other options: Republik, Touch Club, etc.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sassari?

Yes! The Helena Pizzeria in via Zanfarino. I live near and they are always nice, and the pizza is fantastic.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I have to think...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sassari in the future?

You won't regret if you go to Sassari!

The sea is really near.
