What is it like to live in Poznan? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Poznan is a really nice city to live in! It's my home town and I absolutely love this place. In Poland, it's know as a "city of business". It is fith the biggest city in the country, so there are many places to go, but on the other hand it's not too large and it's very easy to find your destination. Especially the centre of the city is really nice, where XIXth century architecture perfectly combines with the modern. The ambiance is great, people in general are easy going and relaxed and there are many good initiatives!

What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?

Poznan is an ideal city for students. It's considerably cheap, there are many places to go and first of all, plenty of young people, as there are many universities. A lot of student parties are organised n so you will never get bored if you like partying :) in addition, there are a few nice bars and pubs with cheap beer, some nice places which you can visit, like parcs, galleries etc and the famous shopping centre Old Brewery, which bis absolutely unique. From the professional point of view, there are some international companies willing to accept students for internships.

How much does it cost to live in Poznan?

As already said, the prices are reasonable, even cheap for our neighbours from the west. Our currency which is złoty is 4 time less than euro. You will find a range of cheap as well as not cheap places - it's up to you what you choose :) if you get a transport card? It's also not expensive to move around the city.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Poznan? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't have many experience in that, but i believe it's for sure doible. The owners usually don't have particular requirements.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is great! Provided you like lots of meat and potatoes; ) we have our typical "pierogi" (dumplings), delicious soups and many others. There are also plenty of restaurants serving dishes from foreign cuisine. You will find there many lovely little places to eat, no worries!

I particularly like the restaurant "Manekin" where they serve amazing pancakes! There are almost hundred of choices, the portion is big and the price is not high.

What places would you recommend visiting in Poznan?

Park Sołacki, Malta lake, cathedral island, The gate of Poznań, of course the Old Market and in the spring and summer time "Kontenery" is the must! It's kind of a city beach, whete many events take place.

Is it good to eat out in Poznan? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Manekin, Chatka Babuni, Ptasie Radio, Weranda, The Mexican (order a cheesecake and you will get a surprise!), and also some alternative choices: Cafe La Ruina as well as restaurant Raj just next to it, they serve unique dishes from all over the world, they have also a little niche cinema; cafe "U przyjaciół" is perfect when you want to go to a place with some intimacy, good charming music and tasty hot chocolate. If it comes to bars, Dragon pub is a really good choice, although not one of the cheapest (for us Poles, as beer costs 10zl).

A perfect idea is to get lost at Żydowska street (it's charming, especially in the summer) and choose whatever appeals to your tastes :)

Is the nightlife good in Poznan? Where is good to go?

I recommend fancy Słodownia (situated in the building of mentioned before The old brewery), the Friday parties are great with music ideal for dance, but also crowded. The other places worth going are Cuba Libre, Czekolada and you can also try this famous one Pacha club! Yes? We have it :)

If you prefer electronical music, try blueberry bar and SQ.

Search parties events on Facebook, if you joint it there in most cases the entry is free

Try t

What advice would you give future students heading to Poznan?

Mix up with local a bit to feel the real atmosphere of the city, try our typical food and keep an eye on alternative places!

Oh and definitely go to Czupito bar ;)
