What is it like to live in Pavia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Pavia it's a really nice place. Most of the people are students, so there is always something to do. The city itself it's not so big, you can go in most places just by foot. Also, there are lots of things to visit, and it's about 30 minutes by train to Milan.

What is the student lifestyle like in Pavia?

As I said before, the majority of people you see around are students, so there are always events, conferences and things to do. Wednesday evening is dedicated to student, which is great for meeting people and have fun.

How much does it cost to live in Pavia?

Prices are not so high. Flat costs about 10€/m2, restaurants, pubs and so on have ordinary prices (doesn't matter if you are near of far from the center).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pavia? Is there any advice you can give?

Student's apartments are usually available for searching from july to october. I would suggest to go around the city and seek for the announces, and also to look at the university because there are always people searching for flatmates.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Pavia you can get the food you like. There are many traditional restaurants with italian food, but also many ethnic ones.

Typical food are rice dishes and the "torta paradiso", a kind of cake.

There also lots of typical wines.

What places would you recommend visiting in Pavia?

The main things to visit are in the center. There is the Duomo (the main church), the castle, San Michele Church, Fraschini theater, Piazza vittoria, the Broletto and so on

The University is itself really beautiful. I would suggest also to pay a visit to the Ponte Coperto on Ticino river, and to spend some time walking in the street of the center.

Finally, it worths the while to pay a visit to near towns: apart from Milan, Vigevano is really nice for example.
