Do you want to come for a walk?

To live in Oslo is a synonymous of cold and low light in winter, but of long and wonderful walks along the river and its parks when there is good weather. Although not necessarily it has to be in May: sometimes in February and March you can be lucky and have good days.

One of my favourite walks in the Nordic capital was a simple thing: I took the t-bane to the stop in the center in Jernbanetorget and then there I took the tram (11, 12 or 13) to Biermanns Gate. There, I got off and crossed the street to the left, crossing the street with the same name until crashed with the Akerselva river that crosses Oslo city in this zone.

From there, I crossed the little bridge and started going down over the right riverbank. If it's winter, you can open your mouth because the waterfall is completely frozen. In spring, it is half frozen and the water passes down around the holes between the ice. When the warm temperatures arrive, it is defrosted and you should be careful because of the waterfall splash.

On your way you will find Mathallen, a kind of market where there are restaurants with specialized food of different countries. The Spanish place is a mix between shop and restaurant. Oslo population seems to like this place.

After Mathallen you will probably see the ducks on the calm zone of the river, and you will cross with a Kiwi supermarket which opens on Sundays (very useful to know).

But my favourite part it comes after all of this: when you start seeing some graffities on a nursery school you will be in the heart of Grünelokka, where it is Blå (Brenneriveien 9, 0182 Oslo). And what is it Blå? On the first place, it means blue in Norwegian and it is a concerts place. It is the best place where you can let yourself fall into it. From 20h to 23h the same crazy jazz group offers a very cool concert. And the entrance is free.

On Sunday mornings, just in front of Blå there is a street market where you can find anything at good price, specially vintage clothes and bags.

To come back to the center, you only need to follow the tram lines until Grønland, and there you can easily take the t-bane again.
