Why did you choose to go to La Plata, Argentina?

I met an Argentinian girl who came from LP so I went to live with her,I was there over 7 years and I am going back in January ry,England.2014,I am currently in my own count

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am not a student.

What is the student lifestyle like in La Plata?

I believe it is good, many students from all over the world,I rented rooms to students, was
nice to meet them and enjoysome house parties,ASADOS,barbecues.

Would you recommend the city and the University of La Plata to other students?

i believe the university, faculty,is very good but some of the buildings are old. They are supposed to be building new ones.I know some students who come back in the following years,so can't be bad.

What is the food like?

Jamon y queso very popular!! pizzas, grilled beef, chicken milanesa, meat casserole in tomato puree,pasta.pork.It is nice but limited if one likes spicy food, some chinese but no Indian restaurants.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in La Plata?

Not applicable for me,but the uni provides an online service to search for locals offing rooms etc.

How much does it cost to live in La Plata?

Is getting more expensive as inflation is 25% but it is cheap for accommodation for europeans.Food is increasing but transport, buses, taxis and trains(not good)are reasonable.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Depends if you are into languages, you can take spanish and english classes.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to La Plata from your city?

From England,row boat...flying to Buenos Aires,then bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in La Plata?

the choice is yours,

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in La Plata?

La Modelo is the most popular, quite expensive these days, many many eating places.Macdonalds if you don't like real food.haha

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The zoo,you will feel empathy....

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to La Plata in the future?

As in any city be aware that some people will rob you,so make sure you don't have lots of cash and expensive electronic stuff when wandering the streets.Europeans are though of as rich, maybe you are?don't be flash with cash.Enjoy yourself and meet lots of other students from all over south america and other parts of the world.People are generally friendly, give some respect o them and you will be ok.US dollars are changed in the street next to the faculty, better rate than official rate,5.3,street rate 9.3,you can't draw dollars from atm only pesos argentinos.payment by credit and debit card in shops and bars, visa etc is ok.Buena suerte estudiantes de La Plata.Danil
