What is it like to live in Grenoble? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

if you like mountains, just go! sometimes it can be tiring because you feel like surrounded by mountains, but if you want to escape from the city, 20minutes by bus and you can enjoy nature and fresh air!

What is the student lifestyle like in Grenoble?

Grenoble is one of those quite small town wich are made for students; nobody knows why but its a famous student place! you can meet a lot of erasmus or exchenge students, and if you know the city (and it's easy) you never get bored. Problem: in summertime, students are oway, so.. Dead city!

How much does it cost to live in Grenoble?

well it's france, so expensive.. As for everywhere, if you get to know the city you will find the cheap places. On the campus or around the train station, if you're lucky you can drink a large beer for 2 or 3 euros for exemple, but in other places its the price for a small one.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Grenoble? Is there any advice you can give?

it's not difficult to find a flat or a shared flat; if you speak french the best website to find.. Well anything, is leboncoin.fr

What places would you recommend visiting in Grenoble?

La Bastille: ancient castle on the top of a little hill where you can see all the city.. Go there by night once, beautiful view. Also the Parc Paul Mistral is a good place to meet people (lots of parties/after parties in the beginig of the year on summertime) and to hang out

Is it good to eat out in Grenoble? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

depends on what food you like, for french and local food i'll recomand Chez Mémé Paulette (next to a quite expensive but good beer pub, Les Frères Berthoms) and La Ferme/Le casse-croute à Dédé; Not too much expensive and typical french food; for veggies: Au Clair de Lune restorant!

Is the nightlife good in Grenoble? Where is good to go?

yes, but not every night of course, sometimes during the winter you'll have to check where you go before going out. In general the Adaep, Drak'art and La Salle Rouge/Noire are good if you like trance, d&b, even sometimes hardtech etc music, La Bobine is the best bar in town and its just in the parc Paul Mistral, also Eve on the Campus... But there are a lot of erasmus pubs and you will also find your own places!

What advice would you give future students heading to Grenoble?

don't be afraid to talk with peaople, ask for advices and everything, bring a good sweater, travel also through the region/country/europe and ENJOY!!!!
