Why did you choose to go to Brussels, Belgium?

I have chosen going to Brussels for several reasons. First of all, i managed to have an internship working at the European Public Health Alliance, as a complement to my medical studies. I wanted to be familiar and more aware about health systems and how policies at a European level can affect the access to healthcare and the work of healthcare professionals.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am here since three months ago, with no scholarship, therefore i have saved some money before and now i am living of some savings.

There is always something to do in Brussels. Making friends and knowing new people is easy and since Brussels is very multicultural and has students from all over the world, we feel embraced and very welcomed.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Brussels to other students?

Yes for sure.

What is the food like?

Since Brussels is very international and multicultural, all types of foods and cuisines are represented here. The Belgium food is also good, and the chocolate is one of the best treats.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Brussels?

A little bit, since i didn't know anybody before coming to Brussels, therefore i went through some websites, including erasmusu and some forums and facebook pages, until i found a place.

How much does it cost to live in Brussels?

Brussels is not cheap, but its not very expensive. I believe a student can stretch his/her budget a little bit and get through the month. Comparing to my home country, Portugal, i didn't fell a big difference, although there are some products clearly more expensive, such as fruits, juices or breakfast cereals.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Brussels from your city?

Plane.

Place Lux or Place Jourdan

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Brussels?

The portuguese restaurant Garcia is very good.
