Here one of the absolute insiders’ tips of mine from the beautiful Barcelona: the market Palo Alto! It is situated in walking distance of the metro stations Poble Nou and Selva de Mar and takes place every first weekend of the month, always from 11am to 9pm. It is a pretty new concept and when I did my Erasmus in Barcelona last winter, I didn’t even know about it, just when I visited this may I found out about this wonderful place.

To get into the market you unfortunately have to pay 2€, but as I can tell you it is totally worth it! Stepping in, you will enter a gorgeous place with lots of trees and plants, overgrown facades, a little park area, luminous garlands everwhere and beautiful old factory buildings. The market is a mix of street food, art, clothes and vintage.

First about my favorite part of the Palo Alto Market: the food! Plenty of little street food stands and trucks make you want to eat your whole way through the market. They offer every kind of food wether it is international delicacies like pizza, empanadas or cheesecake or regional specialties like patatas bravas or sandwiches with jamón. Everything is made with love and tastes unbelievably good.

On the Inside of the old factory buildings, you will find galleries and young and local designers selling their clothes, jewelry, art, furniture and everything else you can imagine. Also they offer workshops and during the day different kind of music and perfomances are featured on the market area. There is something for everybody!

It is a great place that is full of good vibes, creativity and nice people. Although I just had the chance to visit it once so far I would put it on the Top 3 of my favorite things I have seen and done in Barcelona. So if you want to visit a place, that is not yet discovered by the tourist troops, definitely go check out the Palo Alto Market. Go savor, have a rummage and just enjoy!
