Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?

I chose to go to Barcelona because it's a city full of culture, architecture and different events. On top of that the spanish lifestyle is just fascinating me and I really like the kindness of the catalans.

In summer 2014 I have lived there already for an language course in Spanish. I had an amazing time, so I decided to go back.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I did the internship just 2 months. But unfortunately it was unpaid because it was an internship AND in Spain. If you are looking for an internship in spain I suggest you to search sth paid. Most of the internships are unpaid there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?

The student lifestyle in Barcelona depends on the weather and on the season. In summer there are many parties on the beach or festivals outside.

But even in winter you go out a lot and there are different expositions in galleries.

You can go in your free time to the beach or to the mountains and little villages outside of Barcelona. This makes the city so various

Would you recommend the city and the University of Barcelona to other students?

I would recommend the city absolutely for a semester abroad!

What is the food like?

The food in Barcelona is great. On the weekends you can go perfectly for a brunch 'brunchear'. Restaurants/ Bars for that are: Brunch& Cake, Granja Petit Bo, Meatpacking restaurant, Milk etc.

For eating tapas I can recommand many of the little bars around Eixample Izquierda along the Career Enrique Granados.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Barcelona?

No, it didn't cost me.

I found my room in a flat with the help of a webpage.

How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?

For a room: around 300-500 Euros/ month (depending on location and size of the room)

For a flat: 600-1000euro

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Barcelona from your city?

From Munich (my city) I arrived by plane. Most easiest and most common way

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Barcelona?

On Monday: Sala Apolo

Friday: Carpe Diem Lounge Club, Sutton, Bling Bling, Pacha

Saturday: Under Club, Eclipse Bar W Hotel

Sunday: W Hotel (Summer Editions at the terrace), Bestial Beach Club (mostly summer/spring/autumn)

Actually you can go out in Barcelona every day. In Winter you go out more in the 'Zona Alta' all the clubs near Carrer de Aribau or Calle Tuset (Sutton, Bling Bling, Costa Breve, Ura, Gatsby). In summer you go out more at the beach clubs.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Barcelona?

I can recommend many restaurants

Here just an extract:

maka maka (burgers), surfhouse barceloneta, cup&cake, chiringuito escriba (paella), 9 reinas (meat), jaleo (continental), nomo (sushi) ikibana ( sushi), mordisco (mediteranean), cerveceria catalana (tapas), flax& kale (vegeterian), marmalada (brunch), lateral (tapas), tragaluz (mediteranean)

and there are of course many many more to go to!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Parc Güell and Sagrada familia is the standard tourist program.

I can recommend to go to the Museum MACBA when there is a good exhibition.

also the picasso museum and the foundation of Miró in Montjuic are worth for a visit.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Barcelona in the future?

I would never go to the rambla in summer. Too many people and someone could easily stole your stuffs.

I would rent in summer a paddle surf in one of the surf schools in barceloneta (pukas). It is fun.

For having a view over whole Barcelona I can recommend Les Bunkers.

And if you have a bit time I would go out of Barcelona. Visiting Valencia, Girona or the Dali museum and the montserrat. In summer I would def. go to Costa brava to one of its 'calas' (bays). There are less people and the water is clear blue !
