Why did you choose to go to Athens, Greece?

I've decided to choose Athens because I really like greek culture and people. People here are very friendly, they will always help you and they know english what is very helpful. Greece has thousands places to visit and ticket for students to museums, ancient cities etc are for free.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship takes one semester so half a year. Average cost for room is 270€ but food in the canteen is for free.

What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

Partying and travelling

Would you recommend the city and the University of Athens to other students?

Yes

What is the food like?

Food is full of vegetables, olive oil, grains, fish, wine and meat. Other important ingedients are olives, cheese, eggplant and yoghurt. Desserts are very very sweet including nuts, honey and fruits.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Athens?

All my friends used recommended website stayinathens but I found apartment by myself without any problems.

How much does it cost to live in Athens?

An average cost of room is 270€ but it is not hard to find cheaper offers. Food in the canteen is for free for Erasmus students.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

42% of english words are from Greek so language is not complicated. You will have to learn greek alphabet but it is not hard. There are greek courses available at the University.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Athens from your city?

If you want to visit islands it is better to take some cheap flights. Buses for students are not expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Athens?

Everywhere

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Athens?

In the centre there is a lot good restaurants with greek food.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Parthenon, Acropolis, Plaka, Ancient Agora, Erechtheum, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Syntagma square, National Archaeological Museum, Lycabettus hill, new Acropolis museum, National Garden...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Athens in the future?

Visit the Athens, hole Greece is beautiful!
