20 year old girl, looking for accomodation in Amsterdam

I'm a girl, I'm 20 years old. I'm in first year college in the southwest of France where I study city planning . I have to make an internship to end my second half-year. I wanted to go abroad because my course also contains tourism. I chose Amsterdam because I like very much this city.
I'm looking for an accomodation in Amsterdam for 3 months from june 4th. At best, I would like to make a corent to know new people. Otherwise I am in search of an apartment, I would like to rent a room at an inhabitant who is in the center or close to the city center.
