What is it like to live in Amsterdam? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would recommend everybody to live in Amsterdam. It is great to do everything by bike, even though the public transportation is quiet good as well. By bike you get to see more of the city, like its beautiful cannels. And it is good to spend time in one of the many parks on a sunny day. Amsterdam is also famous for its many festivals in and around town, something you should have done once in a life time.

What is the student lifestyle like in Amsterdam?

The student life depends on what you like, there are a lot of bars an terraces in the city centre. I prefer the smaller ones in the 'pijp' or negen straatjes. For the real night live there are several flavours of electronic music, just pick what you like most.

How much does it cost to live in Amsterdam?

housing in Amsterdam is very expansive, especially in the centre or south. Just like going out for dinner is expansive, but your grocery shopping doesn't have to be expansive, you can cut cost here. I personally find tickets for festivals or parties quiet expansive, but also the cheaper parties are good, so try to find these.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Amsterdam? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes in the private sector finding a house is difficult, the Facebookgroups are an good option with a lot off offers are made there. Contact DUO they give exchange students a house, you won't be living in the centre but it will do for you exchange period.
