Shopping

Shopping:

Almost everyone loves shopping. Where are located best shopping places? And when is the best time to go for shopping? In Amsterdam you can find all sort of shops, boutique stores, street markets, vintage stores etc.

                                                                                             Pillow fight on Damsquer.

Each has they own taste, I like more classic style and conservative outfit. But I believe it was also because in Amsterdam everybody wears dark colour and casual clothes. Part from my wardrobe came from Ij Halen. You have to visit this place it’s amazing. They work only once a month.  Maybe not for everyone…. Basically there people sell their own clothes, its huge second hand hall. I love this place because everything is sorted out already! If you find a girl hoe has the same taste as you, you don’t need to dig in for hours to find what fits for you, you have everything on the table and from different brands, good quality and good price.

I also visited often 9 street district, especially Huidenstraat. On this street are little boutique shops, vintage shops where they sell clothes in bright colours, my favourite was jewellery shop Beadies. Girls make delicate jewellery’s on the place and you can ask to change stone or add something special for you.

Even though I lived one street before Alber Cuypmarkt I didn’t visited it as often as before when I lived farther. But you have to visit it! This street market is very long full with different stuffs, from closes to antique furniture’s and fresh food. It’s very colourful. Perfect for shopping once in a while or for party. On this street I had one favourite shop, it’s little shop I think from Japan, they have all sort of teas and full shop of little thing for tea. And also there are located biggest fabric shop.

Love NewYorker, the biggest one is on Nieuwendijk Street, on this street are also shops like, everything for 9EUR, footwear, Chinese shops, Amazon and a lot of souvenir shops.

If you are on the Damsquer facing Madam Tusaud this street will be behind you but front of you will be another shopping street Kalverstraat. This street is like Albert Cuypmarkt long and full of stores like, Zara, Mango, H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess and many, many more.

                                                                                    This picture is from Keukenhof.

It’s just pity that they will open Primark on Damrak when I’m already gone. I would love to go there and buy my favourite socks.

Tip: Before you go shopping check this pages. www.kortingisleuk.nl or www.kortingscode.nl Also www.acties.nl but this page covers all the shops, which is good, you have all in one, and bad because of the same reason, too big choiche.  Korting means discount, on this pages you can find all shops and very often they give discounts. Sometimes you need to subscribe for newsletter but it’s a small thing if you can pay less. If you will be in the city January or July you can get a biggest ketch ever, because this is the time for seasonal sale in Amsterdam.

Useful Stores

I love Hema, in this shop you can buy everything you can imagine, cosmetic, closes. Food, inventory for house and my favourite, stationary supplies, and everything is colourful. Also in this shop you can buy many different present cards and print your photos. If you need something for school this is right place to go. Other shop is Blokker there they offer everything for house, cleaning product, kitchen accessories, little thing for garden. Also other is IKEA, the closest one is in Biljmeer,Hullenbergweg 2, 1101 BL Amsterdam.

Grocery stores

  • Jumbo is one of the cheapest stores you don’t need any member cards it’s just cheap, and now and then they do action, every 50 buyer can have shopping for free, but you get to know it only by  the counter. And this shops are not that easy to find.
  • Dirk Van Den Broek is the shop where I shop the most. I have seen a lot in this shop people buying in big amount one type of groceries, like 20 cabbages or 40 milks, why?
  • Albret Hijn is the most expensive store and this shop is not different than any other store only package is nicer which you will throw in garbage any way.
  • There are no wholesale shops like WalMart or Tesco. But they do have Vomar and Lidl which are similar to them.
  • In all stores you will find healthy food like vegan, bio etc. also you can shop in biological stores like EkoPlaza or Markt,

Street market

In every city side are street markets where you can purchase vegetables and fruits for better price.

  • If you live in the pijp go to Albert Cuypmarket,
  •  In the west side you have Ten Katesrstraat , this street crosses Kinkerstraat which is famous for little cheap shops and one of my Favorite was ALLES it means everything and there you can really find everything, hair accessories, pans and cattle’s, cosmetic, nail accessories. I love that shop but not everything is qualitative. Just check it out!!
  • In the east side, Dappermarket considerable as cheapest market in whole town.
  •  In the city centre, NieuwMarkt if you go to this street market you can also pass by Chine Town.
  • Other city centre side is Noordermarket place where to buy most fresh vegetables and fruits who are sold by farmers.
